Reviews

great for road trip

"I feed my dog raw but needed a quick solution for a last minute road trip, and this worked great! It is great to have a backup option for situations when raw food becomes logistically complicated. It would also work great for dogs who go backpacking, sailing, etc."

I use this as a topper

"I have 2 dogs I use the whole food grain free turkey for . We use it as a topper over the essential clusters because there are lots of extra ingredients that get added to their diets from this product. They love the stuff and it’s packed with extras they enjoy"

Debbie C. (5/5)

Amazing Food For Picky Dogs

"My Husky mix is 3. 5 years old and I have NEVER seen him get excited about meal time until I bought a box of this Wholemade food. I love that it's fresh food, the ingredients are human grade, and the food is high quality. It's easy to prepare and my dog really enjoys mealtime now."

Jessica M. (5/5)

Win/win

"I have to admit that I was drawn to the 50% off offer, but discovered the convenience of the 2 pound bag to be really important during my recovery from surgery. Remi loves his grain free turkey and I love the convenience of the packaging. Win/win!"

Robin C. (5/5)

My dogs absolutely love Honest

"My dogs absolutely love Honest Kitchen. I mis it with their kibble and they never turn down a meal. They both have bright eyes, soft fur, and their overall health is very good! My older dog is a large mixed breed dog, and the younger is an American Eskimo."

Nancy T. (5/5)

The pups love the food

"The pups love the food and especially with the pour overs. The benefit of the food is that it is a raw food and my dog have never needed to have a Dental especially my older Chihuahua mix and they’re known for needing Dental and they rarely need to go to the doctor. I can’t even remember when they were taken to the doctor."

Chris H. (5/5)

Great for my Aussie/Pyranees with food sensitivities

"My dog loves this food, and it’s one of the only brands we’ve tried out of MANY that she doesn’t react negatively to. We’re fans for life!"

Christie S. (5/5)

Great product

"My dog really loves this turkey food and she is really picky about her food. I topically make a small amount and add it to her kibbles and she doesn’t hesitate to eat then licks the bowl clean!"

Dianne B. (5/5)

Love This Food!

"Gently cooked and easy to rehydrate, Honest Kitchen's dehydrated food is the basic ingredient in all my dog's meals. I combine it with their wet food toppers and clusters, as well as raw and freeze-dried meat. I use to skip it when we travelled but now I bring my own kettle to make coffee or tea and so I bring the dehydrated with us too. Great great base food!! My dogs love it."

Carol S. (5/5)

Love the Wholemade Grain Free Turkey

"Scout has really enjoyed this food from day one. He gets excited every time it's mealtime and cleans his bowl. I like knowing he's eating quality ingredients, and it's been easy on his stomach with no digestive issues. His coat looks great, and he has plenty of energy. We'll definitely keep buying it, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality dog food."

Q&A

How many grams per box in the different sizes? . And how many grams per serving for a 39 # dog? I prefer to use grams rather than cups. Thanks,
Hi Yoli, Thank you for reaching out. The box weights in grams are approximately: - 10 lb box = 4,536 g - 7 lb box = 3,175 g - 4 lb box = 1,814 g - 3 lb box = 1,361 g - 2 lb box = 907 g Based on the dry mix yield, each cup of dry food is approximately 113 g. For a 39 lb dog, the grams per serving will depend on the specific recipe and the daily feeding amount recommended on the feeding guide. If you let us know which recipe you are feeding, we'd be happy to help calculate the exact grams per meal and per day. Best regards,
Can this be used for a ketogenic diet?
Thank you for your question. No, our Wholemade Grain Free Turkey recipe is not formulated as a ketogenic diet. Ketogenic diets for pets are highly specialized, very high in fat, and very low in carbohydrates, and must be prescribed and monitored by a veterinarian for specific medical conditions. Our recipe is a balanced, commercial diet. While it is grain-free, it still contains carbohydrates from ingredients like potatoes and peas, which provide necessary energy and nutrients. The fat content, while present, is not at the level required for a therapeutic ketogenic state. We strongly recommend **consulting with your veterinarian** before starting any specialized diet. They can determine if a ketogenic diet is appropriate for your pet's health needs and, if so, guide you to a properly formulated therapeutic food. All the best, Kris
Hello, I just purchased a 10lb box of this dehydrated grain free Turkey. And now that I am looking at it again I am noticing that the nutrient profile has 9.6% fiber... this is considerably higher fiber than I have seen in any other food, which seems like across the board is typically between 3-6%. Is there a reason for this recipe to be so high in fiber? My dogs have had great stools on other foods with much less fiber, so my concern is that this might be too much for them. Generally speaking, they do not have sensitive stomachs and I routinely feed them different foods and mixes of foods including some dog appropriate human leftovers from home, etc. Appreciate any feedback on the reasons behind why such fiber in this recipe. Thank you!
Hi Autumn, We have recipes with different nutrient values for different needs just like this recipe it is high in fiber we actually have a few Here are the links to our high fiber recipes: https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-grain-free-beef-dog-food 7% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-grain-free-turkey-dog-food 9.6% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-limited-ingredient-fish-dog-food 8% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-limited-ingredient-beef-recipe-hope 7.2% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-limited-ingredient-turkey-recipe-marvel 7% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-grain-free-fruit-veggie-base-mix-preference 8% fiber https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/dehydrated-grain-free-veggie-nut-seed-base-mix-kindly 8.5% fiber Please know that we and all of our retail partners offer a 90-day money-back guarantee on our products. What is carbs
Hi Mari, Carbs is in short for Carbohydrates. I hope this helps.
Would you recommend this food for a dog with struvite crystals in their urine?
Hi Shan, Thank you for contacting us. I am so sorry to hear about the urinary issues your companion is dealing with. We consult with a holistic veterinarian who has reviewed major to minor health issues our companions face and has made dietary recommendations. Although we don't make any prescription foods, we do have recipes that fit the feeding model for a pet that deals with UTIs, as they will need a diet with reduced protein, prosperous and magnesium. Moisture is also key in this case, so adding extra water to the food is suggested. Our top choice, in this case, is our Keen diet: **Dehydrated Grain Free Turkey** https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/dehydrated-whole-grain-turkey-dog-food Keen is a hearty dehydrated whole grain diet made with cage-free turkey, low-gluten oats, and garden vegetables like carrots and cabbage. I hope this helps and that you are having a great day! Stay well.
