Picky Senior Loves It

"My 12 YO GSD mix has liver disease and can't eat kibble. He loves this stuff! I've tried everything else: fresh pet, ollie, farmer's dog, farmer's dog diy, pet's table, nom nom, all the big names. He'd either refuse to eat, or he'd get diarrhea. This is the only food that he'll get excited about that doesn't give him diarrhea. Massive win!"

Senior pet loves new Wholemade dog food

"Switched from regular brand kibble to Honest Kitchen Wholemade Senior pet food. My dog has very bad teeth and this food is the perfect texture for her. She always finishes her bowl and even more so topped with the pour over gravy."

Jennifer J. (5/5)

My Senior Labrador is turning His Health around with "The Honest Kitchen"

"I have learned recently that kibble was probably destroying my Dog's health so I was seeking possibilities to turn his whole health around so that he would live longer. Freeze Dried food I tried, Great Food, but too expensive for me to feed a 77 lb dog everyday, So I tried the Honest Kitchen and stopped the freeze dried food. This is going to work for me and my Labrador! He loves it!! I highly recommend The Honest Kitchen. I do mix a little kibble in with it for now because that's what he has been used to all of his Life."

Great for older Bostons missing teeth

"I have two Bostons missing teeth. I was feeding them fresh food- too pricey. Tried canned food and upset their stomach. Got this and both love it eat with zero to no problems. So happy I found this. Easy storage too takes up a lot less space"

Ashley B. (5/5)

Great option for older pup

"So happy there are options for my older pup. He loves the texture of this kind of food, and I love that he’s getting the right nutrition and that I can provide a supplement for his needs."

Tricia D. (5/5)

Good stuff for old dogs

"I can't say whether the formulation is better for them than the non-senior alternatives, but they like it and digest it well."

Keith V. (5/5)

good for seniors

"My senior dog with no teeth likes this food, a soft diet and formula. The soft texture is easy for him to lick up. I mix it with warm water or goats milk, 2x daily. I want to feed ingredients that are safe and nutritionally healthy, with veterinarian formulations."

Beth N. (5/5)

Amazing for my senior dog

"My sweet old boy loves his senior dog food! He's stayed trim and his coat looks amazing on this, and most of all he gets very excited for it."

Kathryn P. (5/5)

Wholemade

"They love it."

Cheryl M. (5/5)

Great for Senior!

"This is a great supplement for our senior girl. She's a Pitt/Rott/GSD mix so weight management is important as well as fish oils. We like to keep her on as much protein and lower carbs as possible. She LOVES this!"

Q&A

Once mixed with water, can this be frozen then reheated in the microwave when ready to serve?
Hi Lena, You can refrigerate it for a max of 3 days, you can add warm water to before serving.
I got the Wholemade Whole Grain Chicken, Oat & Salmon Dehydrated Senior Dog Food, and accidentally threw the box away. Can you direct me to how much I should be feeding my 15-year-old 25lb puppy?
Hello! For your 15-year-old, 25 lb senior dog, feed 1¼ to 1½ cups of dry mix per day. This is the total daily amount, which you can split into two smaller meals. You'll add warm water to the dry mix, just cover the food with water and let it sit for about 3 minutes before serving. This range is specifically for "less active" senior dogs of this weight . Since every dog is different and you know his needs best, start at the lower end (1¼ cups) and adjust up if he seems hungry or is losing weight. All the best,
What is the nutritional analysis for this food? I was just wondering why it’s not on your web site?

Once mixed with water, how long can you refrigerate it? Can it be frozen after it is mixed with water?
Once rehydrated, our Wholemade recipes will remain fresh for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. You can also freeze individual portions for up to 30 days.
What is the fat percentage in this formula? We need to stick to low fat due to our dog’s pancreatitis. Thanks for the data.
Hi Julie, Although our foods are not formulated to be prescription diets, we have recipes that fit the recommended feeding model for dogs with pancreatitis. Most vets will recommend a low-fat diet for pancreatitis. Our Dehydrated Limited Ingredient Beef, Whole Grain Beef, and Grain Free Fish recipes all fit that feeding model. At this time, our Clusters will not meet these low fat standards so we recommend sticking with Dehydrated. Here is some information on each of those recipes: Limited Ingredient Beef - 7.8% fat DM https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/dehydrated-limited-ingredient-beef-dog-food Whole Grain Beef – 9.4% fat DM https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/dehydrated-whole-grain-beef-dog-food Grain Free Fish – 9.3% fat DM https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/dehydrated-grain-free-fish-dog-food Whole Grain Fish & Oat – 9.8% fat DM https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/dehydrated-whole-grain-fish-and-oats-dog-food If you would like a bit more control over your pups' meal time, you can consider using our base mixes with a lean protein added. Keep in mind, anytime you’re using our base mixes you’ll be responsible for ensuring your dog gets the correct amount of protein I hope this helps!
